Are GLC staff eligible to apply?
Staff of selected government-linked companies (GLCs) can apply for personal financing through our cooperative panels. Slightly unlike civil servants, eligibility for this group depends heavily on employer participation: a cooperative panel can only process salary deduction if your employer is listed for the relevant scheme.
First check: does my employer participate?
This is the step that saves the most time. Before any documents are prepared, we check whether your GLC is listed as a participating employer for the salary-deduction scheme the relevant panel uses. If it is not listed, your panel options may be limited — and it is far better to know that early than after submitting an application.
The full background is in ANGKASA-Registered Employers & Cooperative Loans.
How is repayment handled?
For most products, repayment is made through salary deduction. The channel used depends on the product and the employer arrangement — some GLCs use deduction via ANGKASA / Biro Perkhidmatan Angkasa (BPA), while others have an internal deduction process. The applicable channel is confirmed during the preliminary check.
GLC staff generally serve under corporate terms
Although your employer is government-owned, staff of GLCs and their subsidiaries generally serve under corporate terms rather than a public-service scheme. That can affect which products, deduction channel and documents apply — subject to panel and employer confirmation.
The employment confirmation letter is generally issued by your employer rather than any government department; which unit issues it, and its format, differ from company to company. Salary is run through the employer's payroll system, so deduction arrangements are checked against the relevant employer and panel.
Employment status is also more varied in a corporate setting: permanent, contract, under probation, or seconded to another subsidiary. Some panels set a minimum service period or require that you have been confirmed in your position. If you have recently joined the company or moved between subsidiaries, mention it early so it can be checked before the application is submitted.
Documents usually requested
- Copy of identity card.
- Recent payslips — the number of months depends on the panel.
- Salary statement or bank statement for the period the panel specifies.
- Employment confirmation or offer letter, if the panel requests it.
- Additional documents that may be requested during review.
